Glencoe is one of the most infamous, evocative and dramatic locations in Scotland. Explore and photograph the wild beauty of this legendary Highland Glen.
Highlights include Glencoe Lochans, the River Coupall, Buachaille Etive Mòr, Rannoch Moor and Lochan na h-Achlaise, Castle Stalker and Loch Achtriochtan.
Glencoe constantly conjures up visions of swirling mist and mountain peaks caught in the clouds. Iconic scenes of tumbling Highland rivers and burns cascading over rocks and plunging into deep peaty coloured pools are wonderful subjects to experiment with allowing you to create a variety of interesting compositions.
It's a place that quintessentially wraps up all that is "Highland" and captures the imagination of photographer's the world over. On this Highland workshop you’ll really get a chance to immerse yourself in some truly spectacular Scottish landscapes, from the Majestic Buachaille Etive Mòr guarding the entrances to both Glen Etive and Glencoe to the wild open Rannoch Moor and the distant Black Mount.
The best way to capture and experience Glencoe is to leave the car behind and wander its paths and trails. Some meander deep into the Glen where the River Coe navigates its wild course around giant glacial boulders, plunging down into narrow gorges disappearing into blackness. Others paths traverse the northern side along the old military road with stunning vistas of the Glen’s three sisters and River Coe and small Highland lochans.
Other locations include a trip down the shores of Loch Linnhe to Castle Stalker for a dusk session. Not as well know as its famous neighbour, beautiful Glen Etive and the River Etive feel remoter and quieter but still full of drama.
The rivers, waterfalls, mountains and history of this corner of Scotland will provide you with plenty of dramatic and romantic winter imagery to complement your portfolio. It’s one of the most evocative parts of Scotland and a workshop and location that has to be experienced.
This workshop format will also allow us to take some time in the evening to edit and review our images from the days sessions.

This photo adventure explores one of the last frontiers of Outback Australia. Almost every dusk and dawn session offers up a stunning sunrise or sunset with this being the settled dry season in this remote part of the island continent. You'll explore and photograph the more remote eastern regions as well as the contrasting seascapes of Cape Leveque on the Dampier peninsula further west.
Home Valley, El Questro and Emma Gorge
After a night in Kununurra on the 3rd we'll head to the rivers and gorges of the eastern Kimberley around the cattle station's of Home valley and El Questro both feature meandering rivers and gorges, classic Boab trees and high Cockburn escarpments that all combine to offer classic outback vistas.
This is where Baz Lurmans epic "Australia was filmed" due to it having some of most iconic landscapes in the Australian Outback.
Purnululu National Park
Further south you'll encounter Purnululu National park, home to the Bungle Bungle ranges. Only discovered by Europeans in the mid 1980's, a stunning four wheel drive track takes us deep into the park before arriving at our comfortable bush safari camp, with delicious 3 course evening meals using some native herbs and produce to give you a real flavour of the outback.
The unique Beehive domes with coloured banding make fantastic subjects and nearby gorge walks let us get up close to explore some of the key features of the park, including the fantastic Echidna Chasm, Picaninny Creek and Palms gorge. All offer some great photogenic options and walks. To get a different perspective theres an optional "doors off" helicopter flight over the domes in early and late light to get some more abstract compositions. You'll be briefed on what to use and how best to capture your images from above.
Fitzroy Crossing, Geikie Gorge and Tunnel Creek
Breaking the drive between Purnululu and Broome brings us to Fitzroy Crossing where we'll have the chance to catch the late sun on the walls of Geikie gorge by the Fitzroy River. The limestone Gorge is part of an ancient Devonian reef system that used to exist here millions of years ago. The coulours explode as the late sun reflects off the walls.
The following morning we'll make our way up to Tunnel Creek and photograph its interior, again part of a limestone cave system carved out by underground river systems. From here its onto Broome, an old centre for the Pearling industry that still operates today. Full of frontier and old style charm, a great place for a break before heading further north.
After resting in Broome for a night and a colourful session out on Cable Beach to photograph the camel caravan at dusk, you’ll travel north by four wheel drive up the Dampier Peninsula to the remote and colourful Cape Leveque. This is Aboriginal land and has been a nomadic hunting ground for indigenous Australians for thousands of years.
Cape Leveque is a seascape wilderness of vivid red rock, white sand and warm turquoise waters dotted with aboriginal communities. Here you’ll stay in luxury Safari tents at the Aboriginal owned Kooljman resort with views over the eastern beach. Plenty opportunities for vivid seascapes and hopefully an insight into some Aboriginal culture.
Experience this peaceful location with dusk and dawn sessions on the beach and maybe an early morning dip in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
Here we'll have the chance to edit and review our images, explore the coast, experience some bush tucker with a local aboriginal guide and just relax and take it easy before returning for a final night in Broome.

This classic Italian photo adventure combines two beautiful locations, the tumbling colourful villages of Cinque Terre ( five lands ) and the soft rolling hills and villas of iconic Tuscany.
The leaning tower of Pisa, Manarola and Vernazza in the Cinque Terre, Le Crete Senesi, World Heritage site Val d'Orcia, the Chianti region and Montepulciano .
After coming to terms with Pisa's leaning tower you'll make your way north to the five villages of the Cinque Terre in Liguria. The villages are all connected by a train that cuts through tunnels in the cliffs making it easy to jump on and off between them.
Colourful houses cling to the cliff tops and huddle around ridiculously quaint harbours, a setting that has virtually remained unchanged for centuries. The seascapes around Riomaggiore and Manarola with their colourful houses as backdrops are as atmospheric and photogenic as it gets at dusk, dawn and the blue hour.
You'll also have time to explore a couple of the more compact villages such as Manarola and Vernazza during the day.
After feasting on and photographing the delights of the Ligurian coast you'll track south by our own transport to Pienza, the renaissance town where the landscape is a total contrast to that of the previous days shooting. Basing ourselves in the World Heritage listed Val D’Orcia and town of Pienza for 3 nights, the photography here is unrivalled for a pure, subtle mix of rolling hills, Tuscan villas, Cypress trees and soft light at dawn and dusk.
We’ll also photograph and explore the medieval towns of Pienza, Montepulciano and Montelcino. Magical image making in one of the most photo rich parts of Europe. From here on our final day we’ll return to Pisa via Crete Senesi with some handpicked photo locations along the way.
In the evenings the wine will flow and combine with simple Tuscan and Ligurian flavours while by day you explore and photograph the villages, towns, seascapes and landscapes of these classic heart stirring regions, all photographed in glorious autumn light.
